The Heart Applique Quilt Class
Each quilt will be different by your design!
This miniature quilt is ideal for a gift or wall hanging. Methods we will use: Machine appliqué, or hand appliqué. Piecing, quilting and binding will be taught so you will learn the basics of quilt making.
Basic Requirements for the Class
- A working machine, with zig zag stitch or blanket stitch
- Please double check your machine beforehand
- Thread some bobbins in a neutral grey or off white, a few of these will be helpful to save time.
- Cutting mat,
- Olfa cutter with extra blade,
- Scissors,
- Glue sticks
- Seam ripper,
- 6x24, 6x6 inch rulers with a 45 degree angle,
- Flat flower head pins,
- Reg. quilt pins,
Additional Requirements
Yardage Needed
- At least 1 ½ yards of background material
- Misc. materials for hearts, at least 1/8 yard for each heart.
- Lightweight Tear Away Stabilizer
- Misc. notions to embellish by hand ex: buttons, trims, DMC floss
Sample
- 4 inch blocks for background
- Blocks-muslin, solid, or neutral color that will not take away from heart
- Hearts- width up to 3 ¼ inch
- Hearts- print or mixed colors, each heart could be same color or different materials for each heart
